About Us
Welcome to Elmfield House. We are Luke and Kirsty Haslam and have lived in Lower Wensleydale for nearly 25 years. We live on-site, so are always on hand to help guests with any queries, yet the dedicated guest accommodation is completely separate allowing guests as much privacy as you would like. I spend my days baking a range of cakes, biscuits and breads for guests to enjoy and love trying new recipes. I used to live in France and particularly enjoy it when I get an opportunity to practice my language skills! We run the business as a family and we are regularly supported by our extended family. Together we also run a flock of rare breed Wensleydale sheep all of which have excellent fleece. They graze in the fields around the B&B. You can learn about our flock and what we do with their fleece by staying with us or our online store www.shearwensleydale.com. When Luke is not head breakfast chef, he is a chartered surveyor, valuing land, properties and portfolios, specialising in block management.
The breakfast
We offer guests a hearty Yorkshire Breakfast, which is cooked to order while you enjoy cereals, fresh fruit, seasonal breakfast items and yoghurt and preserves. Breakfast is accompanied by fruit juice, as much tea and coffee as you would like and toast made with our own bread.
A full cooked Yorkshire Breakfast comprises egg(s), dry-cure bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomato, fried bread and black pudding or you can select from the available cooked items to create your personal breakfast. Alternatively you can enjoy a vegetarian cooked breakfast . If you fancy something different for breakfast, just let us know and we will do our best to meet your needs.

We are happy to meet any dietary requirements you may have, but if you let us know ahead of arrival, we can often prepare something specially to meet your needs

And whilst Elmfield Lodge is our self-catering cottage, many guests choose to enjoy the additional luxury of an Elmfield House breakfast. Just let us know as you check in and we’ll provide you with details!
The Elmfield House welcome
We like to greet guests with a complimentary cup of tea and some home-made cake or biscuits so we can have a chat about your stay and offer advice and suggestions for dinner venues, things to do etc.
Evenings
If you would like to eat out we are happy to suggest places to eat and some local pubs and restaurants do special offers for our guests. We are lucky as we have a number of really excellent places to eat in the area. We can equally provide plates and cutlery if you prefer a take-away in the conservatory.
