About Elmfield House

Elmfield house was originally a gamekeeper's cottage attached to the Duke of Leeds' estate in the heart of Wensleydale.

Since then it has grown significantly from a small cottage to a modern country guesthouse with seven double rooms, each with en suite facilities.

The property offers fantastic views over the Dale towards Middleham and Leyburn in the west and the North Yorkshire Moors in the east. The calm surroundings combined with comfortable beds, plenty of fresh air and good company all make for a relaxing holiday break.

After a good night's sleep you can look forward to a hearty Yorkshire breakfast made from the best local produce available. Elmfield House also has extensive grounds and many of our guests enjoy a walk in our woodland planted around a fully-stocked fishing lake, enjoying the wildlife from local roe deer to darting kingfishers.

And in the evening, because we are fully licensed, you can enjoy a glass of chilled white wine in the garden, reposing to the relaxing sound of birdsong.

We can even arrange for an evening meal from our well-stocked farmhouse kitchen.
